Have you had your donkey hug today?

Tall Timbers Ranch is located in the piney woods of beautiful East Texas.  We purchased our escape five years ago and moved here full time in 2004.  Garey had served for 33 years with the Ft Worth Fire Department and retired as Captain Kirk.  Patsy retired from Verizon Communications where she had worked in sales management and training. We were ready for some peace and quiet in the country.  The city noises changed to rooster crows and donkey brays as we started aquiring our animals.

We discovered Miniature Donkeys when we started shopping for goats to clear our land.  Goats also needed guard animals such as donkeys.  While searching for donkeys we met breeders that loved the minis and we got hooked on them too.  We visited several ranches in Texas and beyond doing research and learning about the breed.  Everyone we meet were so nice and helpful to us.  Before long we had 16 head with two babies on the way. Our goal is to breed for quality and improve our bloodlines.  We also plan to show our stock.  People ask us what do you do with the donkeys and our response is just love 'em.

Our love for animals shows in the many varietites we have at Tall Timbers. They include dogs, cats, pgymy goats, geese, ducks, chickens, rabbits and of course the donkeys.  We have had several breeds of dogs during our 39 years together and currently have settled on Golden Retrievers and Papillons.  Our Goldens are the fourth generation owned by our family.  We purchased our first Papillon seven years ago and found the breed to be very special. Now that we have more room we have expanded our little kennel and have purchased some great stud dogs to build on.  We want to be responsible breeders and only breed animals that are healthy and without obvious faults.

This website is a work in progress.  Please check back often as we plan to add to it frequently.
